What are your fees like?

In personal injury cases, we represent our clients on a contingency basis. That means that you don't have to pay us anything up front in order for us to represent you. We are not paid unless we are able to recover a settlement or judgment on your behalf. At the conclusion of your case, our fee will be deducted from the total amount recovered for you. In criminal and traffic matters, we charge a reasonable flat fee. The amount of the fee will depend on the severity of the charges against you, the number of charges you are facing and any prior convictions. Call us now for a free evaluation of your case.

What should I do after an auto accident?

Stop at the scene and if possible, leave the vehicles in the position they were in when they came to a stop. Assist any injured parties and call an ambulance if needed. Even if the accident appears to be a minor one, notify the police immediately. Take precautions to avoid further accidents by using flashers, flares, etc. Make sure to get all relevant information from all those involved including names, addresses, phone numbers, insurance information and make, model, license plate numbers and VIN numbers of all vehicles. Ask around to see if there were any witnesses. If so, make sure to get their information as well. Do NOT admit liability or wrongdoing. If you have a camera or cell phone, take pictures of all of the damage from as many angles as possible. Report the accident to your insurance company. It is also helpful to write down exactly what happened in the accident when it is most fresh in your mind.

After you leave the scene, get a thorough medical exam as soon as possible and make sure to explain all of your symptoms to your physician. It is important that you don't exaggerate or underestimate the extent of your injuries. Be open and honest with your doctors and follow their instructions closely. Take pictures of any noticeable injuries, bruises, scars, etc. Keep copies of all bills, records and receipts and make sure to keep track of any lost wages and other expenses you incur. Do not give a statement to an insurance adjuster until you speak with an attorney. Call us as soon as possible to ensure that your rights are protected.

What determines the value of my personal
injury case?

Because every case is unique, it is impossible to determine the value of your case until all of your damages are calculated. In general, the value of a personal injury case depends on several factors such as the nature and extent of your injuries, the extent of your medical treatment, the amount of the medical bills incurred, time lost from work, the amount of property damage to the vehicles involved and the liability, or amount of fault, of all parties involved in the accident. Your damages are best proven through thorough documentation. That is why it is important to document all of your injuries by obtaining the proper medical care and to follow your doctor's advice closely. Even after all of these factors are considered, the value of any given case may be affected by the amount of insurance or personal assets available. However, an experienced personal injury attorney will know how all of these factors work together and will be able to inform you about the strengths and weaknesses of your particular case.

How long does a personal injury case take?

Again, because each case is unique, the answer depends on the facts of your particular case. In general, it is not a good idea to start the settlement process until you have completed all necessary medical treatment. If your case is settled before you have fully recovered from your injuries, it is likely that you will receive a lower settlement than you should. Some injuries may go undiscovered for months after an accident and the total amount of your medical expenses cannot be calculated until you are finished treating with your doctors. If a settlement is made before those injuries are discovered or the full extent of your expenses are known, you will lose the right to recover fully for all of your damages. Generally, a claim can be resolved within a few months of the completion of your medical treatment. If a lawsuit becomes necessary however, your claim will take much longer to resolve. Whatever the case, you can count on us to handle your claim as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What should I bring for my meeting with a lawyer?

Make sure to bring all relevant documentation of your case that is in your possession. In personal injury cases, it is helpful if you bring your insurance information, the police report if you have it, information on the other parties involved and any information regarding the damage to your vehicle, such as a repair estimate or photos of the damage. You'll also want to provide us with the names and addresses of any physicians you have seen as a result of the accident.
